Black Handrail Installation for a Narrow Staircase

This real CoreMount customer installation shows a black wall-mounted handrail fitted on a relatively narrow staircase.

In this project, the customer wanted to keep the staircase as easy to use as possible while still adding the safety and practicality of a wall-mounted handrail. Because the staircase was fairly narrow, we supplied the handrail with a shortened projection so there was more usable space for moving up and down the stairs, including when carrying suitcases.

The black handrail works particularly well in this setting, tying in with the darker staircase details while contrasting neatly against the lighter wall. The result is a clean, modern finish that looks considered and practical rather than intrusive.

Why This Installation Works Well

This installation is a great example of how a handrail can be tailored to suit the staircase rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. On a narrower staircase, standard projection can sometimes take up more space than the customer would like. By reducing the projection, the handrail remains comfortable to use while helping preserve valuable passing space on the stairs.

That was especially important here, as the customer wanted to be able to move up and down the staircase more easily with suitcases.

This customer was initially unsure how to measure for the new stair rail, so we helped guide them through the process. One of the advantages of the CoreMount system is that it can be planned around the layout and practical needs of the staircase, rather than simply supplying a generic rail.
